Emergency Preparedness... ARE YOU READY?

In my Persuasion class we are writing a Community Action Project. Our group has chosen to encourage BYU-Idaho students to compile a personal 72 hour kit. We've done some research and learned that although most students feel it is important, very few have actually done anything about it.
Many of you know that my husband is the king of 72 hour kits. We have two of the most extensive (and expensive) 72 hour kits around. :)
But...
Did you know that a very basic 72 hour 'student kit' can be prepared for under $20? In fact, our student stake (BYU-I 1st Stake) is helping students gather the food portion of their kits for only $5! For a list of what our university recommends to include in a student 72 hour kit, click here.
Here's a shout out to you all who have started. And for the rest of us...
Just Do It!

Hey Laurene-Yes it is true - you don't have to be a size six!!! Yeah! I'm thinking that I would love to see a size 12 again, just for health's sake and so I won't have to ever buy 2 airlines seats when I fly!!!! At are age who cares about being beautiful? Anyway. . .thanks for the reminder about 72 hr kits. I have one for myself (too bad for my husband if anything should happen right now) But I was thinking about making one for him for Christmas. Some of my kids have them but others don't so I may get them some things to get started.

How is school going? I am missing it so much. I just hope that I can get back into the swing of studying and stuff when I go back in the winter. Have a great week and its good to see you blogging more. :)

Why did I never think of putting books in our 72-hour kits? Sheesh, that's brilliant! We'll have no food, but at least we won't be bored. Glad you got the blog fixed after I helped ruin it this morning.

Laurene - Trev and I have 72 hour kits prepped and ready to go (thanks to Bart who probably got tips from Roger) but your post did inspire me to make up a shopping list of all the food storage items I need to stock up on. Thanks for inspiring the #3 thing on my "List of Things To Do" this week.
